" I am really excited to be part of this CRC that deals with the fundamental understanding of the hydrodynamics on the offshore support structure of the wind energy", says Sriram Venkatachalam. "One of the important and not fully explored areas in ocean engineering is the wave-current interactions with the complex structure in the shallow waters. Like different types of waves, current can also have different profiles across the depth, thus its interactions with waves and subsequently with structure requires proper understanding."
"The past experiments on the moving cylinder interactions with waves, that was carried out at Ludwig Franzius Institute and the new set of experiments on wave-current interactions with structure, as part of this CRC, will be exciting to compare the two different approaches and one can have deeper understanding on the physical process involved in it as well as for the design of the structure."
