Humboldt Research Award Winner joins the Faculty

Prof. Bruno Sudret, Head of Risk, Safety, and Uncertainty Quantification at ETH Zürich, has won an extraordinarily prestigious Humboldt Research Award and will join the Institute for Risk and Reliability for collaborative research.

Prof. Bruno Sudret is one of the world's most respected researchers in the field of reliability and the stochastic behaviour of structures and is working intensively on new methods for the safety of critical infrastructures.

"Together, we are aiming for fundamental developments to numerically evaluate the robustness and resilience of complex coupled infrastructure systems and to define targeted measures to improve them," explains host Prof Dr Michael Beer. "In particular, we are working on the detection and elimination of cascading failure chains, which are associated with significant risks.’
